"Flower Children 2008"
I remember when the world was unafraid:
Belly-down drowning, long before my birth but
I remember.
I remember when The Boys sang Silent Night
And recommended angels join the fight,
And thought the time was neither wrong nor right.
I have been one acquainted with the past.
Time-travelling son of symphony and sass,
I pressed my hands against the colored glass.
The shadow of the rose came first and last.
I gave myself to Egypt and the Queen.
I remember when the barriers broke down
In a long and low-rumbling sound
Like thunder over fields I've never seen
(not long enough to sleep in, or to dream)
and someone built half-rhymes instead of walls
and love, love, love, love was all,
Love was all.
We were the children of the revolution and
We painted henna on our hands.
And I remember when he died,
All the contemplations set aside
For one bright breath that mourned the sudden death
And told the world what a man was
Told the world what a woman was
Told the world what a human was
Told the world what a nation was
Told the world to remember, remember.
Now
We are the children of our revolution and
We paint our new names on our hands.
We want to make a world that's unafraid.

Oh, for the time to finish editing my book.![]()

(and hey i'm not crying anymore).![]()
Yeah, my first. I'm rather prolific as a poet, you see. The dang thing's over 200 pages long. There are poems that will ultimately be cut, I'm sure, but still... I have a hard time making myself stop writing it long enough to edit even a few pages.![]()
That's so great. Let us now when u publish it, alright?
I think I'm going now... Nice to meet you Ven, see u around.

Very good. There's something about me that makes me be very picky about the poetry I like, don't ask me what or why, cause I wish I knew myself. Anyways, I liked this one. Thanks for sharing.
