Just some of my favs I can think of off the top of my head.
Mine are:
-Eat, Drink, Man, Women (Ang Lee, in general one of the greatest directors, so all movies by him belong to the greatest)
-Houseboat (with Sophia Loren, I am half Italian)
-Seabiscuit (I love racehorses and underdog stars)
-Matrix (a great spitual one as well)
-Jaws (great horror)
-Back To The Future
-Vertigo
-The Boat
-All Emma Peal series (I am very British in my heart)
- Lately I follow Desperate Houswive (great fun!)
- All Almodovar movies in general, lately "Volver" (fantastic!)
Just just saw "Babel" on Monday, a real good one!

This is very subjective indeed, all those movies make me feel very emotional. since Jaws e.g. I see al lot of documentation about white sharks and how to get even in a loving relationship with them.
Desperate Housewives shows how desperate we are all sometimes...Hi Hi. The picture of the human self.
All Ang Lee movies are very emotional, all about misunderstood feelings, freedom, intolerance, Love in general etc..
All Almodovar movies are about sexual diversity of the human beeing, intolearnce, fun of expressing oneself, Love in general
Seabiscuit is also about Love, to an animal, a horse, a best friend if you choose to. It also about an underdog shining his light, almost an indigo....
Emma Peal is al lot about Love for style an perfect behavior as an agent. John Stead and Emma Peal love each other, though this lover is covered up, yes it makes me think an feel a lot about my British soul.
Houseboat is about culture clashes (mine is a German / Italian conflict), the putting down of an other national identity, a very emotional movie for me as I was mistaken many times as a guest worker though being German as looking Italian, people are just very bad sometimes.....
Much more to say to this.......![]()
Not sure why you are quoting me and apologizing. I basically just clarified what your original post was for Thomas12. My point was that I thought this thread was for exactly what you initially posted, not for just general lists of favorite movies (I liked your idea of keeping it to movies that created deep thoughts or that were thought provoking/really meaningful).
Anyway..sorry to be clarifying for people. Everyone should just do what they want. We're all Indigo's Forget rules or guidelines and just make up your own!

Ok, I know this is going to sounds incredibly cliche in a teenage girl way but the movie that I think has touched me most deeply would have to be The Notebook. The strength of their love astounded me and I still lose it every time I watch it. Especially the ending scene when she asks him if he thinks they're love is strong enough to take them away together and he says their love can do anything.

I found Hotel Rwanda and Crash to be powerful, emotional and thought provoking movies. Also liked What Dreams May come.![]()
The movies that have affected me most in one way or another are:
The Crow
Donnie Darko
Amelie
Ghost World
Hedwig and the Angry Inch
And the entire series of Taken.

Donnie Darko is a good one.
Every time I watch it, I get it a little more. I like movies that make me think the way that movie does...

The five people you meet in Heaven
Garden State
The green Mile
The five people you meet in Heaven is by far my favorite movie though. It has my crying almost continuously. I think this is one of the most beautiful stories ever written. (It's a novel by Mitch Albom originally)
- Roy
i forgot to mention some really tough and "real" movies... trainspotting, requiem for a dream and 16 years of alcohol (UK production).. perfect movies that made me feel "uncomfortable", reminded me of these events, that they are real, are a mirror of our society and can and still happen to many people..
now about the movie "the five people you meet in heaven".. it's about an old man who saves a little girl in a luna park? if yes, then it's a really "made for cry" movie..very very good.. when i saw it my emotions went crazy....!

About the five people you meet in Heaven:
They made a mini series about it, 3 parts of an hour each.
And yes, it is about a man, named Eddie, who saves a small girl from her death in a luna park called "Ruby Pier".
3rd person made me cry
4th person made me drop to my knees
5th person put me in another dimension

There are many but a few for me are.
The Keep
V For Vendetta
Mysterious Skin
