just finished this mp3 demo of my current synthesizer, 'friction..' it's a fairly simple 'physical model' synth that uses mass-springs, waveguides and a friction algorithm.
god knows what people would use it for...![]()

"Death is a stripping away of all that is not you. The secret of life is to "die before you die" — and find that there is no death."
'waveguide' synthesis uses very short delays to model the transmission of acoustic vibrations. this can produce more versatile performance than samples.. yes, it's entirely rendered with no source audio.
..and this potentiates things like making a guitar change size, or changing the string characteristics in performance..
as you can hear, there's a same-y quality to many of the sounds.. it does have a simple architecture.
the voice is mine, albeit formant shifted. i thought my natural voice might be a bit personal or intimidating. oc now it's a bit distracting as i find myself listening to how well the formant shifter algorithm worked..![]()

Hahaha my cat was totally getting into some of those sounds.and I am listening through headphones. What ever makes the cat curious gets the mark of aproval in my apartment. Have you heard of neuronal synthesis or the Haartman neuron synth? It's is completely overpriced for an average income person so no one bought it and it is more a sound design tool than something to use for more than solo performances. So they don't make it anymore but it's still available but now for even more loot.
yes, lots of hype when it came out. i didn't hear anything that surprised me. i have a plugin called populus that uses a 'biological behavioural algorithm' for generating midi. proprietary algorithms are a dime a dozen, and you can call them all kinds of impressive names
not to be all 'me me,' this is what you want to 'entertain your cat..'

maybe i can creep out the cat's human as well..

where's my competition?
fwiw i wouldn't recommend listening to these on phones..![]()

oh haha I'm not a very competitve person and what I do is only related to what you do but not comparable. Your coming from a real programing type of direction and I am more of a found sound composition direction, but I really appreciate what you do, because it helps out people like me to do what we do better. I only dabble in programing and synths. That is one area where my knowledge is still pretty limited. I have messed with fm synthesis and granular synthesis but I hardly know what I am doing. I just tweak things until I get what I want, but I am learning more every day. What is a good place to post music so I can share it with you guys? I will try to get a myspace but I don't have one yet. My band has one under the name Norden Bombsight but it is very different from my solo projects and the recordings on myspace don't do our live performance justice. We're still working on getting some more representational recordings up. When you have 6 people playing together hitting that record button can change everything.![]()
or just one person
..i meant competition in the general sense.. globally.
to say... apparently we can't just sit back and rely on people with certificates to make progress for us![]()

I could not appreciate it in its entirety until you explained your technique...too cool
I know you are jain and I do not want to damage you with compliments...but i just wanted to let you know I am thinking of a few![]()

people have told me i sound south african a couple of times, or is this a phonetic thing with my name?(it's from hugs & kisses, or "x0x" style drum machine sequencing).
i've put thought into moving to india for a more sadhu-compatible environment.. somehow i got the impression that you lived in asia as well as being of dravidian heritage.
if you do live in india, as someone who generally sounds british, do you think i'd encounter a lot of hostility?
(obviously making noisy software is far from jain ideals.. these things are myselfi don't know how long i'll be making software, 6 months, 60 years

phonetic with your nameeverytime I see your name I think of it in Xhosa XoXos
in this link she explains ixoxo means a frog in xhosa, but I never think of you as a frog or correlate it to your name
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Mwh9...eature=related
I know you thought I lived in India and worked in a call center LOLOLLLLLLLLLLLL...sorry for not correcting you before but the things you said made me laugh too much and I did not want to change it
I am of Dravidian ancestry but other ancestries as well...mixed heritage: Indian, Jamaican, Welsh...etc..etc..I have never been to India, so I do not know how you will fare there. Are you a saddhu? or do you just mean the saddhu ideal maintaining jain ideology? I get many mixed reactions from people from India depending on how they perceive me...same as with all people of all races/ethnicities. I do not perceive an accent other than American when i speak English, but I do make British errors in writing English and sometimes people think that I am from Great Britian or at least did my studies there. I study a lot of languages so ... sometimes I do not speak English correctly and use consonants and vowels from other languages...NOT INTENTIONALLY I might add....but I do not think you asked me that LOLOL so sorry for going on about it.
Anyways I interact a lot with Indians...more often than not they mistake me for full Indian for some reason. I can tell you the only thing I think can affect you in India is what area you are in and what caste they perceive you as...in some places they may adore you...in some places they may hate you. Myself, I look like the drawings of Krshna when he was a little boy

(^^haha i just found this pic and i have a picture i took like this earlier this yearbut i am facing right not left)
so sometimes some Hindus come to me for guidance...which is odd being I am not Hindu...and yes I am a femaleand not blue either
![]()
But I do hear the whole caste thing is slowly getting better...and I do not think your accent will make much of a difference depending on how you are perceived.

hehe, i think all kinds of things, fortunately i've observed my propensity for doing so
frog means lifedidn't you ever see the power rangers??
if i'm a sadhu, i'd have to be a tirthankara because of my big mouth (for the time being,) which contradicts scripture as there won't be another for some timeso i would have to be categorised as householder. perhaps houseworker is a better term.
i treat jainism as the most convenient reference, i find all the logic sound, took a few months to do nothing except read sutras.. from this understanding i would say i have "the jain dharma." oc i've never met another.. so i generally mention it because i think the ideas are worth sharing.
i never, ever considered caste to be a factor for a european..! oc living in the u.k. and the u.s. i wasn't looking further than race and nationality.
fwiw, i looked at the pictures for content, though, as with everything, i do a certain amount of "not looking"
absolute nonviolence isn't very compatible with making synthesizers (and selling them!)

fwib (for what it be) there is varna and caste in India...Varna=Color.. no race so to speak...but again, it depends on the part that you are in and also I am not from India so I would not be best to speak on the subject, but I know this much. being a foreigner is a different thing yet varna and caste still applies.
yw for the link btw...It was one of my favorite songs when i was little![]()
here is one..the same song but more like the version on the Africa Album:

I do not know about saddhus in jainism...only in Hinduism but again I really have not studied jainism much and my family is from Hinduism...although no one practices, but we still have it in us...my father thinks it is where we get our "capabilities" from LOLOLol
