You read somewhere doesn't seem like an authorative source on the matter there does it lol im jk
Idk, it hasn't yet been false in my personal experience. So I like it.
If you could find that place though I'd like to read about it.
I read somewhere that the signs of the zodiac change every 200 years. But astrology doesnt make note of the changes. Why wouldnt they?

“The Grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for."
Found this: Precession of the equinoxes is caused by a wobble of the earth around the pole every 25,960 years and was it not for this effect, we would have no seasons, and thus life its self as we know it is dependent on the sun and precession. The motion of precession causes the vernal position of the sun to move backward through a zodiac sign at the rate of 1° every 72 years. Since there are 30° in every sign of the Zodiac, it is easy to see a shift of 10° in 720 years.
Of course, this shift also affects the position of the sun in any zodiac sign at the same rate.
Astrology is ancient, more ancient than most of us realise. There is evidence that our ancestors knew of astrology as far back as 27000 years ago, before the destruction of 90% of the world's flora and fauna at the end of the last ice age 12000 years ago. This is evident from the depiction of Taurus , the Pleaides and the lunar cycles, discovered in the caves of Lascaux in the Dordogne region of France. However, if we go back only 2000 years, there has been a shift of 28° of the position of the sun at the same date of the year. That is almost a whole star sign of 30°.
It is highly possible that the Julian calendar that astrologers use, do not take precession into the equation. This is dateable in the case of the present error.
An example would be my own birth date of the 25th August 1949. I am, by modern astrologers reckoning, a Virgo, that is to say that I was born on a day when the sun was in Virgo, two days after the sun left Leo.
However, by running modern computerised astronomy programs , I see that I was born in the sign of Leo and that the sun was just beside Regulus, the Kings star.
“The Grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for."
However I just thought of something, this is presuming that we have access to true astrology. Think about it, back then they belonged to the kings and queens, idk just a thought, anyone can prove me wrong if they wish.
Anyways I also thought about the fact that astrology is based on the stars in the universe, does it necessarily have to follow an exact alignment with the planets, what if astrology is just a form of channeling information to our plane, I mean it's the only teachers ancient societies had. Idk, I smoked a little, but I think this makes sense.
“The Grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for."
I agree Flaming Arrow and all I have had is an iced soy latte.
I also question the more literal side. Like the earth rotates around the Sun and thus changes its position in relation to constellation that are light years away. We call it a Sun sign because that is how we mark time but it may well be that it is the earth's position relative to the constellations that has the effect on our energy.
Sometimes what works in terms of ancient arts and sciences works for a different reason than what was originally thought. It is even true that storks are more common when there are more births but it is because season is affecting both species. Or maybe storks do bring babies...
Consciousness is a much stronger force then the electromagnetic influence of heavenly bodies.
Astrology is for entertainment, provided you believe in free will :-)

Ophiuchus? Am I really an Opie?
Nice post sudden.
I used to play with runes, etc... They're fun and they're amazingly accurate if you want them to be. But they never really tell you anything useful.
I've always felt the same way about astrology but soooo many people believe in it. It's hilarious to see that the entire zodiac isn't even remotely close to where astrology pretends it is.
It's accurate! really!
Not to mention the expanding universe theory... over 1000's of years that would create changes in addition to the earth's wobble.
Do you all believe in synchronicity? You know that thing where you're listening to music, and the lyrics give you messages, personal to you, even if you've heard the song a million times? What if astrology, because it's believed in so much, carries personal messages as well? It doesn't have to be accurate, but if it's accurate TO YOU, why not?
“The Grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for."
I agree... except for two little things...but if it's accurate TO YOU, why not?
One, in a subtle way it's telling yourself that you can't see clearly enough on your own without a crutch.
Why look to silly pop culture phenomena for answers when you can find so much better ones in yourself?
Forget stars and planets look at your life. Like you said, synchronicity.
Two, astrology takes itself waaaay too seriously.
It's not a crutch at all. More often than not it IS entertaining. It's just cool to look up your birth chart and fine many correct points about you. It's a nice insight that I could do and function without, but I choose not to. To each his own. Some find insight in tarot cards that are scientifically impossible, others find em in crystals, etc etc.
“The Grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for."
I kinda agree with flamingarrow. Everything even things that arent accurate are in some divine accordance with the universe and therefore take part in synchronicity.. imo
Meaning that everything in the universe is a form of divinitation.
So why look outside yourself?
Curiosity? Why does anyone do anything. Searching for answers? who knows
From another angle, once something becomes an organized system (like astrology or religion) it starts to drift away from the truth.
You can generally tell how far it has drifted by how hard it's participants fight for it :-)
even with all this, i still feel that i relate to cancer.... (June 29, 1990)
but i do understand the arguments suggested. it makes sense... but... why hasnt it been updated? you would think that after all the astrologers that have walked the earth, some of them would have proposed this
Crazy americans and their switched around date! I find that very hard to read!
But apparently I'm supposed to be a Taurus - personality wise though... very definitely a Gemini (of the old measure)
GUS bless you
