Can "Healing" become Trauma!? get in touch with yourself!

This ad goes away when you register.
Over the past i've been looking into/studying "healing" modalities....the last one called Chi Nei Tsang(chinese abdominal massage based on the 5-Element Theory) which is a physical/emotional/spiritual approach to the whole body. I'm using this one as an example, and what i like to point out is "true" for many if not all healing modalities! In Chi Nei Tsang, part of the "rountine" is called "opening the windgates", the practioner will have his ellbow on 8 points(windgates) around the clients navel....pain to be experienced during this is most likely related to old "trauma" (physical or emotinal) unless it is a case of mal-practice(let's hope that doesn't happen to anyone)!
....now in my opinion, pain of some sort is "normal" in healing/while healing, yourself and others, however how much pain is needed to cause a Trauma from "healing"? From experience in Body-work I can assure everybody, "healing" can cause Trauma, it may not be considered "healing" afterwards, but the intent was to facilitate "healing", not Trauma.

If you consider some form of "healing" for yourself(be it bodywork, therapies of all kinds, whatever...) it is important that you are honest with yourself, healing is about YOU, not the practioner! And if your inner guide "the guardian" tells you "this is to much right now" listen! You will only hurt/harm yourself if you don't listen to yourself! Breathing exercise & meditation will help you to get in touch with yourself, they will also allow you to be stronger for the "healing"... breathing exercise are miracle workers when it comes to pain( e.a. women during childbirth! the worst pain i ever felt, and breathing helped more than anything)!

hmm...during the awakening. There was a point in meditating on the root chakra where it felt like a battle axe was going through my chest. The pain was tremendous...

But I didn't break concentration and simply 'observed it' without 'approaching or examining it.

After the experience was over? Felt like it'd healed an old wound inside.

Spirit seemed to say, if I focused on examining it vs. simply observing.

Whatever it was, would get worse?

if you are able to stick with it, than that is how "strong" you are at the time and you/your body can take it! but there is others who may not, and this post is mainly for them....to not push themselves/be pushed beyond their limits! Though i appreciate every input, especially positive healing experiences like yours!

Mind-Set is an important factor, and as you said, you were meditating and proably breathing conciously....that makes a hell of a difference....allowing oneself to observe rather than following the mind into the pain/discomfort of whatever sort!

    Thank you

Nice post Susan, thanks for sharing this.

... I liked it a lot... I believe.... when u want to heal something... u have to feel the pain of it. I don't think ... healing becomes a trauma... but traumas have to be healed... Maybe is just like playing with words...?...

The thing is... to heal is important to feel the pain. In all levels, physical, emotional.. but in order to release it.

Many times we don't want to feel a pain so we avoid it... We pretend is not there.... Therefore we don't heal that.

That's what I think.. Maybe I'm too raw... but... seriously... that's what I think.

It's like... having a wound.. u have to clean it very well.. and put some alcohol..and that hurts. But u have to do that part of the process...in order to... heal that. If u just... put a patch on it... not well cleaned.. ouch!!! that wound... is gonna be there... and more problems can come from it later. Doesn't matter if u numb ur pain with drugs or tobacco or whatever...And doesn't matter if u act like u don't care.... that is all good... hey! there is something waiting to be healed!! And... the faster, the better. If u.. open the f* wound for once.... and clean it and heal it... ur gonna be greatful forever.

Maybe... and just maybe.. there are other ways to heal things... not this way... but.. Have worked for me. Sometimes u have to cry and cry and cry... and then u can let go... and ah!! u feel sooooo lighter then... It's great. U are cleaning urself.. and... I think that's very important and very good for u. And when u do it, the way I say... it's faster. The problem is when we procastinate.. but it's understandable... it's part of the process...called life.. (or lives).

i think you are right about both, there are many ways to heal and pain that is stored somewhere from previous trauma needs to felt in order to release it....feeling the pain is in a way acknowledging the trauma, processing it, bringing awareness to that area, opening a channel to release what needs to be realeased.
However, if someone is not ready , it will do more harm than good to "force" healing upon them....if we are not ready to process that kind of pain, our shields go up and what was supposed to be "healing" turns into an attack! For instance, when a bodyworker needs to work deep in the tissue, it is adviseable to sink down with the exhale of the client, wait for the next exhale and sink deeper and so on...vs...simply diving down without waiting for the client to be ready, the muscles will flex and the practioner will cause pain. and this pain isn't old trauma, it is very new! Try on yourself, or a friend to feel into their tummy, go with the breath and go without and see how far you get, it makes quite a difference!

    Hi Susan..

hey can u explain this to me?.. how the breathing goes?...

is it inhale first and then sink?... (and exhaling while sinking)...

and then.. not touching the tummy....

and then inhale and do it again?...

or... u can keep sinking while u are inhaling?...

quite often the healing process involves letting go of toxins that have been held in the body for a long period of time, this can be traumatic as some toxins can only be released via the skin (sweat or breakouts - acne, boils, dermatitis etc). This does not just involve physical toxins - emotional trauma may cause the body to hold on to certain toxins until the the person is ready to heal from the emotional trauma.

    I hope that helps

I think the first step is forgiving yourself and understanding that you are worthy of being healed. My biggest hurdles were the feeling of unworthiness or that I didn't deserve to be well..

make sure you put you first, know that you can't help others (and I know this is the indigo instinct) until you have first helped yourself. By healing yourself you help others by osmosis as you are more capable once you are healed.

Thanks Patryc. Make a lot of sense to me what u say..

and I normally don't share very private stuff but... I would like to share with u and here that.... just last night... my spiritual guide.. let's say.. My Angel was saying pretty much what ur saying here to me... Or something very similar..... or related.......And i'm impressed now reading what u say.. Because it's ..confirming someone else was talking to me...Because in one moment... I said, to her, crying.. a little.. "am I going crazy? am I talking with myself or I'm really talking with u?....."..... And now I feel I was talking with her.. She was saying so friggin' cool stuff.... I'm stuborn though.. I have to say.. cos the last thing I said to her.. was.. like.. She would put this face:

but wow... thanks for saying this things cos... is helpin' a lot in more than one way....

    wow...

now.... mmhmm I understand that... when u... heal urself u help others "by osmosis".. I say "by butterfly effect",but is the same... But.. what I want to ask... is like... hey.. we can be a little fucked up but still help others... don't you think?..... I was thinkin' about it this evening.. ..and I should start a new thread maybe.... it's like... it's easier to help others sometimes instead of urself. I find so difficult to put myself first.... I don't even want to put me first so much cos.... I just don't like selfishness... Many people is so used to be selfish...... I'm not. And don't want to be selfish. But yes I do want to heal myself.

... I'm not asking very well but any thought is appreciated.

well I used to think this way too, and I think that has to do with how I was raised also - to be selfless

we work with energy, consciousness and awareness, this is quite often how we heal

so in raising our own consciousness is this selfish ?

I don't think so, it's just opening our eyes or turning the light on so we can see things more clearly, so we don't trip over the obstacles and cause more damage because that is what can happen, if you don't heal yourself first and you attempt to heal others you can actually do more damage than good despite your good intention

as you vibration level rises you help others without trying, just them being around you helps them, you make them feel good and their own vibration level rises - it was never meant to be hard

please take care of you, god is within and your body is the kingdom of heaven, please treat it as such

    O.K. thanks.

.. and no, yeah.. no.. to raise our vibration is not being selfish...

is our obligation actually. (and right)..

yeah... I'm podering this, thanks Patryc...

    ...

i think I confuse... being selfish with taking care of myself....and putting myself first... cos I've been learning about this... It's quite new to me...

maybe... being selfish and taking care of urself are 2 different things....

...o.k.... I keep pondering and... working on it..... I know I have to.. HAVE TO take care of me.

    Thanks again and Namaste.
