well,in my opinion..i think it all comes back to how u perceive the idea of meditating at midnight.

it can be caused by a various of reasons.

1.the energy is usually stronger at those times, and ur mind, body or soul may not be ready to receive the energy and distribute it to ur own self in the most efficient way.then it produces the sensation of nervousness (over-energized).

2.or..it can just be ur mind fooling with u.with all the usual stereotyping of midnight being the time where negative energies (spirits, ghosts, hauntings, etc) manifests.

i suggest u try and see where ur limits are,and learn how to overcome the anxiety slowly.dont give up on meditating at those times, but keep on going, and keep on putting positive affirmations whenever u feel the nervousness.

    namaste.

It is relatively common knowledge that the body has rythms and cycles (bio-rythms) that influence everything from hunger to sleep patterns and energy boosts...and for each individual there are certain times of the day when they are more - or less - alert or able to concentrate.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if your midnight meditations corresponded with a downswing in several areas (physical, intellectual, physical)...your body and mind telling you that this is not the best time to be practicing meditation? Perhaps if you tried a physical exercise at that time and saved your meditation for an earlier or later hour?

    Just a thought

I've had many intense moments late at night (2-4am). your body does have cycles, and when you sleep is when you do a lot of your deeper spiritual work. staying up late, and meditating is effective (in my experience) to reach a sort of conscious understanding of your spiritual side if you so desire....

especially if you keep a journal and do that flow writing thing, where you just put your thoughts straight onto paper as they appear.

there's also different brain chemistry late at night. potentially amounts of dmt?

daytime person myself, and i don't wish to give you another 'concern.'

a possible factor is that if you are affected by the thoughts of those around you (sub?)consciously, at this time, many people around you may be asleep and thinking different thoughts.. :P
