One of my closest friends, my sister ever since we graduated has been drinking just about every night.

I know I know kids will drink and party and we're young and that's what we do.

But she never use to drink this much, and all ready she has started doing things that she would never do and that I know she regrets. Already she is losing herself.

Also she is a diabetic and the people she drinks with don't know how to help her if she has problems. She tries to say that alcohol doesn't do much to her blood sugar but we both know that it does and it is very dangerous.

She depends solely on an insulin pump and many things could go wrong she could forget she has it on and jump in the water or the battery could die or someone could mess with it not knowing what it is.

I worry about her a lot. It's been a bit over a month and a half since she's started to drink every night. Both our families have alcoholics in them and so I made the decision to never drink and she made the decision to drink responsibly but she isn't following through.

I'm worried that IT will get her, the addiction and it will drag her down and it's horrible. We are both in college on scholarships and if she loses them then she might not get to come back. IT could take everything from her.

I've already had to deal with a lot of addictions in my life. Both my parents and some other close friends but this is different. She has so much more to lose. She is so young and she is also in more danger because of her diabetes.

She doesn't listen. She thinks she has it all under control and I know there isn't much I can do until she decides that she wants to change. So I have to sit back and watch at all again, and that scares me.

Because it really is life and death. And I am really scared for her.

ok so i will let my drinker instinct to speak here =) i got drunk several time and doing dangerous things or things told dangerous, and sometime well like it really got me on nerve to be considered as an animal just because i drink a bit etc hehe i don't know the situation she is in, but sometime its ok to have some period when you want to lower your consciousness on thing and just get off the responsabilities and alchool is very good for that , its the most powerfull consciouness remover ever made hehe =) but well i'm sure she still remind what is important as take her meds etc and that she know where to stop and not getting hurt, but well just tell her to stop or reduce or anything in the usual way will never make her to listen and for really having influence on her, its because well we are so much told and retold that alchool and drugs are bad that well in some manner we already made a decision toward these statement when we start to drink and just listening them again from another mouth won't really change the view we have on the thing, so i think if you really want to have influence on her, you need to speak to her in an unusal way , not using words that are commonly used to express this kind of thing and pointing personal and experience fact, might it hurt her to hear some view on her behavior or her acts or the way she see herself, like really pointing personal facts and matter with unusual words or view will have really better impact that just putting her again in front of thing she probably already heard and thougth of hundreds of times =) but well i have a bit the same prob with some friend that i sometime think they really taking too much things hehe lots of these around me and i really don't know what to say to them well they are all 5/6 year older than me, and i also take occasoinally things and may not be the best person to tell them what to do in their life hehe but well i still would prefer them to really care more about what they take/drink =)
