Too much empathy
I guess it's a really common topic here, but sometimes my empathy just gets on me in a way that it becomes a terribly annoying thing. I'd cry for other people's affairs if I notice the slightest hint of emotion from them even if they don't show it. Spent hours crying, and I just find it natural to keep visualizing situations as though I am in their senses and everything, and I'd cry even more. I tend to know others' feelings at times that it freaks them out.
And I wonder why I'm not feeling any fear or pain for those who die. One of the reasons may be because I've begun to look at death from a dimensional point of view, so it's not so forbidden to me, but seriously, people find it weird. I don't know what's happening lol. I'm happy with the ability to empathize and all that but I dunno, do u guys find it too much at times? This ad goes away when you register. |

Every week I've come to these forums, I've seen an almost identical post. And yeah, there are ways and techniques to cope with it. But regardless of whatever I say here, it will take a bit of time, as the whole thing is a learning process which seems to work itself out in the end.
It's vital if you feel that you have empathy to have some basic elements of psi down. Get familiar with basic meditation, grounding, centering, shielding, and golden suns, as they are all fantastic techniques to use to combat this. Every day for 5-10 mins even if your in the shower you should make sure your grounded out and create a nice golden sun to fill you up for the day. I've also found that Protection Roses can do wonders for getting rid of unwated empathic emotions. Some of that may sound confusing or strange, but do some google searching or something on those subjects to get acquainted (we also have some stuff here if you search), to lazy to link, and within a month and a bit of practice I bet you could get it undercontrol more. But yeah, the one emotion that I always think about is how overwhelming it can be. There is sooo much hate, sadness, and fear flying around that it's disturbing to me, but there is also the happy things. And I have come close to tears when focusing, meditating, on the lighter side of things. Good luck |

^^ thx Kryptics, that was great advice. Though perhaps my parents will stare at me weirdly as though I'm some otherworldly creature. Oh but I think I've decided to keep up this level of empathy because it helps me to be able to help others. I tend to take note of people some time before they actually need help, and it's like I know that I'll have to help them when the time comes. And since I can make use of such empathy for greater good, why not maintain it? It gives some meaning to life. XD thanks for ur advice though, it was great comfort.

I have real problems with it too. Although i find it really difficult to cry at my own problems, even when i know i really need to let it all out.
I cry when i feel any kind of emotion from things. I cry if i feel that people are emotional (not just sad emotions), i cry if i see roadkill cuz i can feel them, i cry at music (even banging dance music starts me off if theres ANY emotion in the song), i even cry at tv commercials (lol). The amount of times ive had to leave my housemate watching the simpsons cuz the ads have set me off! Im used to it now though and just make sure i carry tissues with me
