When Was The Last Time?
When was the last time you did something for yourself that made you happy, truly happy...something that you did because you just suddenly felt like doing it, not because it was asked or expected or obligated, but because you wanted to?
And finally, why would you usually not treat yourself to this sort of activity? ~~~~~ The last time I did something for myself was today - It's been raining all day, a gray, drizzly sort of day, very depressing. Well, when I got home and had put the groceries away, I took off my shoes and ran barefoot through the wet grass in the front yard around my apple tree until I was so dizzy that I had to sit down, and then I just laid there on my back, staring up into the raindrops, letting myself get soaked by the rain, feeling every raindrop and the grass under my hands. And I was happy. Contented. Grounded. (I know, I know, bad pun )Normally I don't do things like this a) because of my upbrining ("Put your shoes on right now young lady, you'll catch your death!") or b) because of the reactions I get when I do them. Like today, when I finally came inside I found my husband and daughters all standing at the front door, staring at me like I'd gone out of my mind. The girls seemed to take it in stride when I told them that I'd just felt like feeling the wet grass under my feet - but my husband actually pulled me aside and asked me in all seriousness if I thought I should make an appointment at the clinic to see someone about my "personality change". !!!! If I wasn't so euphoric I'd take offense, but I can't. All I did was smile and tell him "It's called spontenaity sweetheart, you should try it sometime." !!! This ad goes away when you register. |

*sigh* I know what you mean... I love to do such things and at times my friends think I'm crazy... my bestie is just getting use to my 'craziness' and now he finds it fun to join along... I think he secretly wants to do 'crazy' things to but would never do them on his own. Tis good fun... *sigh* I love a good rain storm.

Well, Im not married, but my friends reactions are half the fun of doing things like that!
I used to be really concerned about what other people thought of me, now I am able to turn that fear into energy. Like I used to be afraid of heights, now I will go to a tall place and look down, the energy the 'fear' builds up is a head rush! |

Yeh, but its a bit different when someone you thought you knew can't accept the person you're becoming
But I can't not become who I'm becoming. Well, I suppose I COULD, but then it wouldn't be me. AARGH!!!!*runs off into the rain agiain tearing out hair* |

Sometimes you have to let go for awhile. If they really care and you really care things will come back full circle. Become and they shall become too and then you shall know if you should really be forever because your becomings will still match up... but sometimes you must grow on your own... others you must grow together... soulmates do this but they always come back around full circle to each other in time... even twin souls do this... it's how it works sometimes.

typing out my experience on a thread here, stating how simple being a part of reality really is. you know, experiencing moments of eternity that go on forever!
the moments may change, along with people and the locations, but the moments of eternity are always just that. weeee. oh and just choosing love at every choice. love and be loved! now why is it so hard for people to get this? the answer lies within that question. and so it is. all is well by the way too if you didnt already know that. and survival is assured! love you all walwys Rue |

It is the hardest thing to do because it is the easiest Rue. I've heard that before and have come to realize it. Imagine just letting everything be, just being at one with now and having complete peace with all that is...easiest thing to do - that's why it's the hardest.

Growing up in a barefooted nation has it's benefits! Yay for dancing in the rain
![]() I'm trying to remember the last thing I did that truly made me happy... ah... watching episode seven of Oprah with my workmate and then heading into town for drinks afterwards (wednesday night), stoned, dancing and then being 'dinked' home at 2am with a very attractive Aussie bloke (riding pillion on a bicycle). I remained present for almost the whole night, and that was a great feeling! |

I twirled on the Metro platrorm today. I get on the metro at an outdoor stop- there was a storm coming in and the wind was blowing up in that powerful way that storm winds do and I just put my bag down and twirled, like I used to when I was a little girl. Got some mighty strange looks from the bleary eyed people around me - and got a whole seat to myself once the train came in! Heh, I guess there's a upside to being seen as "strange" after all! |

Ah - and here is another instance -
I blissed out this weekend - total cut off from everything electronic, from everything that can distract me... And spent the bulk of Saturday Afternoon zoning out in a hammock, soakaing in the sun and just letting myself completely unwind. |

Last thing i did that made me really happy was a few days ago i took whatever change was in my pocket and took the bus for a few hours. I read my book, chatted with interesting people, listened to music, enjoyed the sights. When i got off i felt so refreshed and happy. It was such a good experience and it felt better knowing i didnt have a destination or a need to go anywhere. I was just being.
I like conversing about life with random people at the bus stops. Always leaves me with a good feeling knowing i shared an uplifting chat with someone i will probly never see again. I dont know why i deny myself these experiences... thats a very good question and im glad im now asking myself this! Last edited by MiamiSound; 04-27-2008 at 04:56 PM. Reason: grammar patrol |

One of the last great fun thing I did for me was spending the day(yesterday) at the Public Market with our youth group... Kumsi-ndu! It was the market opening day and the sun was shining finally..
about 7-12 youth were in and out of the tent all day.. We juggled, spun pio balls, did awesome full face paintings and cheeks too. (the ones on the faces ) The music was jammin' and it was a relaxed festive day and the kids all had a blast too.. Well it looked like they did... Great fun was had by all... it really touchs me cause I spawned the idea for this gruop last year and is so neat to see how successful it is becoming... was a truly great day.. i even got a bit too much sun on my nose cheeks and chest... ya some colors on this wintered white skin...sunkist!!! livin' and lovin' life |

There is a panhandler at my metro stop. He is there every afternoon with his hat out to collect change. People tend to ignore him - but we're on a firstname basis, and yesterday I bought two corn muffins, pulled up a section of wall, handed him one, and had one of the most interesting conversations I've ever had - did he ever have stories to tell!
