PANTHER POWER ANIMAL

#1
The Panther (also commonly known as the Black Panther) is a large member of the Big Cat family, native to Asia, Africa, and the Americas. The Panther is not a distinct species itself but is the general name used to refer to any black coloured feline of the Big Cat family, most notably Leopards and Jaguars. The Panther is an elusive and powerful animal that has adapted well to a variety of habitats around the world, and is known to be one of the strongest climbers of all felines. Although the Panther is not technically classified as a separate species, they are considered to be endangered by many due to the declining numbers of both Leopards and Jaguars throughout much of their natural ranges.

The Panther tends to be dark brown to black in colour and is otherwise identical to the feline species to which it belongs. The only real exception to this is the Florida Panther found in the south east region of the USA, which is believed to be a subspecies of Cougar and is quite rarely dark brown in colour and tends to have more of a speckled appearance. Unlike Leopards and Jaguars, the Panther has no spots on its long body or tail, but instead has a shiny coat of dark fur. Panthers have small heads with strong jaws and emerald green eyes, and tend to have hind legs that are both larger and slightly longer than those at the front. Being a member of the Big Cat family, the Panther is not only one of the largest felines in the world but it is also able to roar which is something that felines outside of this group are not able to do.

Panthers are natively found on three of the world's continents, with their location depending on whether or not it is a black Leopard or a Black Jaguar. There are 30 different subspecies of Leopard found across both Asia and sub-Saharan Africa, and with the once large natural range of the Jaguar stretching throughout Central and South America and even into parts of the USA, the Panther has become an incredibly adaptable animal that is found in a variety of different habitats. Although they are most commonly found in tropical and deciduous forests, the Panther can also be found inhabiting both marsh and swampland, along with grasslands and even more hostile areas such as deserts and mountains. Along with a number of the world's largest felines, the Panther is becoming rarer in the wild primarily due to habitat loss in the form of deforestation.

The Panther is an incredibly intelligent and agile animal that is very seldom seen by people in the wild as they are generally very quiet and cautious animals. Their dark brown fur camouflages the Panther both into the surrounding forest and makes them almost invisible in the darkness of night. The Panther is a solitary animal that leads a nocturnal lifestyle, spending much of the daylight hours resting safely high in the trees. Like both the Leopard and the Jaguar, Panthers are incredible climbers and they not only rest in the trees but they are also able to keep a watchful eye out for prey without being spotted.

Although technically only black Leopards and Jaguars are generally considered to be the only true Panthers by science, the term is also used to describe a number of other dark coated Cats by locals in their native habitats including Cougars, Tigers, Pumas, Lynxes, and Bobcats. The Black Panther is seen to be one of the most intelligent and ferocious predators in America so the image of a Panther is widely used as a logo or as a mascot for sports teams. Some Panthers are actually able to swim, although not those that are Leopards, jaguars are known to have a real love of water. Not only do these individuals prefer flooded forests but they spend a remarkable amount of time swimming, playing, and hunting in the cooling waters.

If panther is your power animal, well then my friend you are very special indeed. Panther is very selective as to who he shows himself to and does not like to show too much of himself at any given time. Being the colour black helps not only to hide in the shadows but also to be elusive when the circumstances demand. Panther is very cautious and takes his time to survey his surroundings before coming out of the safety of camouflage. You also like to be very aware of your surroundings at all times.

If you were to look into the dense forest, all you would see is a pair of emerald green eyes, staring back at you. The colour green represents the heart chakra and represents harmony, creativity, health, abundance and nature. We cannot see our own heart anymore than we can see the panther through the woods. The eyes are the window to the soul, we can all see with our third eye if we spend the time to open it. You are very creative and look after your health almost to the point of people calling you a health freak :) You also are very good with your resources and like to have money in the bank for a rainy day.

Panther is adaptable, agile, intelligent, solitary, ferocious and comes to share these gifts with you. His message is one of subtlety and duality. Panthers spend a lot of time on land but loves nothing more than to swim when they get the chance. They are as sleek and nimble in water as they are on land. You love nature and beauty and spend lots of times walking in the countryside, you have been know to stop and speak to flowers and tell them how beautiful they are.

Panther says, well look at you, sleek, finesse, smooth with those beautiful green emerald eyes, purring like the cat that got the cream. You love your nocturnal solitary life just the way it is. Age has brought you wisdom and the knowledge that all the secrets of the ages are to be found in silence. You are very adaptable and can climb any challenge as well as panther can climb any tree, you do have a ferocious roar when you need it but you can also purr a beautiful sound when the need arises. You have indeed learned the difference between intelligence and wisdom and the esoteric and symbolism are fascinating to you.

Do not fear what others think about your view of the world, they are viewing the world through the forest, you are viewing the world from the lofty heights of the tree top. The beauty you see is like mana for the soul, do you realise how lucky you are to be able to appreciate beauty, most people don't notice it because they are too busy rushing around with their lives. The greatest power is in knowing you are powerful inside but not having to use this power against others. Why would someone as powerful as you have to prove anything to anyone? Isn't it enough to know you are powerful, let people think they know sometimes, it does a world of good for their self confidence.

You know how to love with all of your heart, you have also had your heart broken many times. Each time you are learning about love and each time the lesson seems harsher. Panther has known many harsh seasons also but like Panther you are adaptable and do not close yourself off to love, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Around every corner is another adventure, love does not know age and love is blind to everything around it. Please do not ever feel like love has passed you by. Believe in love and love will believe in you. You may think you are settled in your life but in the forest of life there are always surprises waiting for when we need them most. :)

charachteristics: Ferocious, intelligent, sleek, elusive, powerful, adaptable, nocturnal, solitary, esoteric, beauty, love and symbolism.

Most excellent and unusually complete i would think. Thanks for posting :) In 1982 i "did" a workshop at Esalen with Michael Harner. One of the first "practices" was to go into the "underworld" to meet your power animal. Guess what ...clear as day...Interestingly, the participants lay on the floor in a circle to take the "trip" -- the lady a couple of feet away saw "it" too...
